Paul the Apostle

Paul and New Testament teaching

Paul is often quoted to support very conservative and even legalistic views and the impression is given that he was often moralising, repressive and exclusive. In fact, he taught against legalism all through his ministry.

Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God,

for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!

Galatians3:11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith”

Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ;

you have fallen away from grace.

Has the church really understood Paul's teaching about grace? We are not under the law!
