How I understand the Bible

Some verses don't make sense to me, but I ask the Lord to help me to understand them better. God leads us by His Holy Spirit, but I strongly believe it's right to study.

If it wasn't for scholarship we wouldn't have the Bible in our own language.

We are privileged these days in being able to access various commentaries, concordances, Greek and Hebrew lexicons and all kinds of Bible teaching.

My experience is that what I learn through the leading of God's Holy Spirit is confirmed by what I learn from study: these things are not in conflict, and I've found this more and more in recent years. The more I learn, the more I love God's word.

Jesus Himself said: The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. John 6:63

The Bible speaks to our hearts

The website name

Caerlagan Rainbow

'Caerlagan' is a fictitious place name:

a city in a historical romance.

It has no significance other than that:

I just used it as a distinctive name for my website.

I used the word 'Rainbow'

because the first thing I published was a study on Romans 1

to show that the Bible does not forbid gay relationships.
