Paul the Apostle was against literal or legalistic interpretation of the Bible

2 Corinthians 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant: not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

New Testament teaching

Paul's teaching

Galatians 5:14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”

This is the real test of living holy lives:

how we show love and respect to others!

Jesus also said this

Mark12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

This was also the main principle that Jesus Himself taught

Paul's teaching

Romans 13:9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”

We can test other ideas by these principles
